Being active is a necessity if we want to stay healthy, but sometimes a healthy lifestyle comes with a price. With physical activity comes the risk of sports injuries, the most common being: sprains and strains, swollen muscles, fractures, and/or dislocations. Some sports injuries could result from accidents, while others are due to poor training practices, improper equipment, or lack of conditioning. Whatever the case, Dr. Nicholas Stamoulos at Personal Care Chiropractic & Massage can develop an individualized treatment plan to get you back on track and back on the field.
Whether an injury is acute or chronic, you should never “play through the pain.” If you get hurt, you should always practice the RICE method first. RICE stands for “rest, ice, compression, and elevation.” This method has the ability to relieve pain, reduce swelling, and speed up the healing process, but remember that it may be a temporary solution to a deeper problem. If you develop a symptom that hinders your athletic performance, you should visit us immediately for an evaluation. Treatment will depend on the severity of the injury and may include a combination of physical therapy, strengthening exercises, and bracing.
If you’ve recently suffered a sports injury and think you may benefit from chiropractic care, please give us a call. Auto Injury
Car accidents are a leading cause of injuries. In fact, a recent study reported that six million is the average number of car accidents that occur in the U.S. every year. At Personal Care Chiropractic & Massage, we understand that you are more likely to worry about the expense of your vehicle if an auto accident were to happen to you, but we would like to present the facts as to why your body and overall health should be a top priority.
One of the most common injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident is the damaging effect of whiplash. Whiplash occurs when a sudden, jarring movement of the head is sustained backward, forward, or even to the side. Whiplash destabilizes the spine and causes severe pain, as well as blurred vision, neck pain, headaches, and reduced range of motion in the neck. It is critical that chiropractic care is sought immediately after sustaining an injury, because whiplash can take days, weeks, or even months for these major symptoms to arise. Since chiropractors such as Dr. Nicholas Stamoulos , specialize in the care of bones, muscles, nerves, and connective tissue, it is important to schedule a consultation to keep these body parts in optimal health.
Chiropractic treatment after an auto accident is a step in the right direction in restoring the body. Depending on the severity of the case, Dr. Nicholas Stamoulos may make necessary adjustments to align your spine and may suggest massage or other therapeutic techniques. The earlier the issue is detected, the earlier it can be treated, so don’t wait and give us a call today.
If you have questions about chiropractic care affecting your auto injury, please give us a call at 781-641-4482 or visit us at www.painlessbody.com

Chiropractic Adjustments
If you are seeking relief from back or joint pain, a chiropractic adjustment, also known as spinal manipulation is a safe and effective alternative treatment method that we utilize here at Personal Care Chiropractic & Massage. A chiropractic adjustment refers to applying manipulation to the vertebrae that have abnormal movement patterns or fail to function normally. Since the adjustment technique varies by location of discomfort, it is best to schedule a consultation first.
Spinal manipulation is suitable for conditions such as acute low back pain caused by daily activities, or neck pain, headaches, and osteoarthritis. The objective of this treatment method is to reduce the subluxation, while increasing range of motion, reducing nerve irritability, and improving overall function. No special preparation is required before a chiropractic adjustment and depending on the individualized treatment plan Dr. Nicholas Stamoulos provides for you, chiropractic treatment may require a series of visits to our office.
If you think you may benefit from a chiropractic adjustment, please give us a call. To learn about services we provide at our practice, visit www.painlessbody.com for more information. Electrical Muscle Stimulation
At Personal Care Chiropractic & Massage, Dr. Nicholas Stamoulos and staff promote a multifaceted approach to chiropractic health. Electrical Muscle Stimulation is a therapy recommended for patients with chronic pain, injuries to soft tissue, and muscle spasms.
The body’s natural electric current is disrupted when injury or disease occurs. Electrical Muscle Stimulation is administered by placing electrodes directly on the body and sending a small electrical current to the affected soft tissue or muscle. The current works by mimicking the signals that occur naturally in a healthy body, causing the targeted muscle to experience small contractions. The muscles contract and then relax, which helps reduce swelling and releases any trigger points that may be causing muscles to lock up.
This treatment helps an injured body heal faster, and relieves pain and muscle spasms. Endorphins, the body’s most powerful natural pain relievers, are also released as a result of this process. The amount of electricity used in electrical muscle stimulation is small but enough to be effective for treating spasms and other chronic or acute pains. This treatment is usually scheduled in short sessions over a period of weeks depending on the location and severity of the pain or injury.

Chiropractic Examinations
At Personal Care Chiropractic & Massage, the focus of Dr. Nicholas Stamoulos is to provide superior care for each patient to achieve full recovery from aches and pains. Even if you think you feel good, our staff is here to make you feel better. When you first visit our office, you’ll notice that a chiropractic examination is very similar to a standard examination that you may receive at your primary care physician’s office. An initial chiropractic exam will typically have three parts: a consultation, case history, and physical examination.
The consultation will consist of the patient meeting with Dr. Nicholas Stamoulos to provide a brief synopsis of the pain he or she is experiencing and/or what brings them to the office in the first place. This is when you describe your areas of pain, as well as your duration and frequency of symptoms. During the second part of the exam, you will discuss your case history. This provides patients with the opportunity to outline the family history, dietary habits, and occupational history. The final step of the chiropractic exam includes the physical examination to test your range of motion. Dr.Nicholas Stamoulos will have you perform a series of mobility tests before recommending treatment options.
If you think you may benefit from chiropractic treatment, please give us a call. To learn about the services we provide at our office, visit www.painlessbody.com for more information. Chiropractic Massage Therapy
Personal Care Chiropractic & Massage offers a multifaceted approach to chiropractic care that includes massage. Massage therapy may sound indulgent, but has many benefits to your chiropractic health and shouldn’t be overlooked as a form of treatment. Chiropractic massage therapy uses massage to relax the body, allowing a doctor to more easily realign problem areas. Combining these two methods of therapy is an excellent way to improve overall musculoskeletal health and efficiency.
This approach of combining the two therapy methods is often used with patients in recovery from surgery or injury, as both methods working together help the patient recover faster. Massage is particularly helpful in recovery because it releases toxins built up in the muscles and deep tissue may help in breaking up scar tissue adhesions. Anyone can experience relief and relaxation from chiropractic massage, but this method is especially helpful to patients with neck pain, back pain, pulled muscles, muscle spasms, sleep disorders, high blood pressure, or even anxiety problems.
Chiropractic massage is just one way to take care of your chiropractic health. To learn about all the services provided by Dr. Nicholas Stamoulos, visit www.painlessbody.com for more information. To schedule an appointment at the Arlington, MA facility, call 781.641.4482.

- Mechanical Neck Pain – This type of pain is developed from the joints, muscles, tendons and the fascia. It’s the most common type of neck pain and it’s usually caused by a neck strain.
- Cervical Disc Pain - This happens when there is a tear in the disc and herniated through the outer part that pinches the root of the spine
